Backstage Passes [Group, add pg1]

Well, looks like I'm the first to post something here. Smile

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney or anyone associated with them. I do not own Rochelle, Sem or Meaghan. I do own myself. And I do own any of the full songs unless stated otherwise.

1.
“She's searching for a lonely heart, she finds him but his heart has stopped, she breaks down,” Rochelle’s voice rung out in between the mouthfuls of hot chocolate she had been downing in attempt to warm herself up. She was glad of the jeans and purple sweater that clung to her body as the heater tried desperately to warm their cornered off section of the tent. Her two best friends and band mates sat on a drab couch opposite her, Sarah’s hands beating out a steady rhythm against her jean clad legs as her boots tapped a beat along with it. Kate was huddled in one corner, her feet tucked under her as her hoodie hid away her face, her hands clasped around her own hot chocolate. A soft melody could be heard escaping the red head’s lips, but it was too quiet for Rochelle to even attempt to pick up a harmony to it.
“Death to all hours before ten o’clock,” Kate finally managed to grumble, stretching out her legs and draining the rest of her drink.
“Just because you’re not an early riser,” Sarah joked, trying to stifle a giggle as a dagger look was shot her way.
“I may not be, but six am is bloody ridiculous.”
“You think you’d be getting used to it by now,” Rochelle shook her head, her gaze following Kate as the girl moved to position herself next to the heater.
“Never have, never will.” She simply shrugged, holding her hands out to the warm bars. Somewhere, a short distance away a guitar chord struck up, Rochelle’s ears instantly picking up on it. Turning away from the conversation she strained her ears to hear what she thought to be a familiar tune. It took her several seconds of humming along until she finally realised what it was and snapped back to the other two.
“I think the Jonas Brothers are having their sound check.”
“Wanna check ‘em out?” Sarah suggested and Rochelle nodded, offering a hand to help the youngest member up.
Together the three of them headed out of their designated corner and across the large pavilion tent that had been set up for the bands performing at Zootopia. All around them people floated by; fellow musicians, hair and make-up artists, managers and roadies of various bands who had been up since before dawn to help set up. Spying the opening of the tent the girls made a beeline for it, gasping as they emerged into the late autumn air.
“That’s it, I won’t be able to play my bass,” Kate whined, clenching her fists and stuffing them into the pockets of her hoodie.
“You’re just being dramatic, you’ll be fine,” Rochelle rolled her eyes as they made their way to side stage.
“I’ll have you know the last time I was in these sort of temperatures I was barely potty trained,” the red head bit back, cursing as she tripped over the frost covered grass.
“Settle down Katikins, the lights on stage will warm you up in no time,” Sarah joined Rochelle’s side of the argument, wondering who it really was that was the youngest of their group. “Look, we made it.”
They had reached the set of metal stairs that lead to the side of the stage, the music now loud enough for them to have to raise their voices. Climbing the stairs quietly they came to a halt by the curtains, giving them a clear view of the stage.
“Do you reckon Joe would mind if I stole his clothes?” Kate pondered as she watched him walk around the stage in white skinny jeans and a black vest, with a simple shirt underneath it.
“I think he might. They’re Christian aren’t they?” Sarah replied and the red head let out a snort, glancing at her.
“I meant from his wardrobe Sem. I’m not that bad.”
“Coulda fooled me.” The younger girl let out a squeal as she received a poke in the ribs, Rochelle and Kate bursting into laughter as she nearly fell over a box behind her. “Murder I say, murder!”
“Settle down Sem, you’ll live,” Kate used the girls words against her, Sarah pouting at the trick as she turned back to watch the warm up.
“One more time guys!” a voice was heard and the girls watched as the group exchanged informative glances, the guitars striking up and Joe grabbing the mike.
Oh This is an S.O.S.
Don't wanna second guess,
This is the bottom line

“Turn Nick’s guitar up a little!” the technician called again as Rochelle, Sarah and Kate bobbed their heads along to the beat. “That’s great”
The instruments and Joe drifted off at the thumbs up from the tech, before he called the next band and Sarah and Kate jumped as they felt Rochelle’s hand land on their shoulders.
“We’re on after this, we should get our instruments,” she urged and the others nodded, turning round to make their way back down the stairs.

Thanks Ashley Smile I'm glad for somewhere to put my fiction.

And I'm sure your fic is great.
No I don't think I've said it yet, the group's called Superbad. Here's another chap Wink

2.
Several hours later Sarah, Rochelle and Kate found themselves in a row of seats at the edge of the tent, a middle aged lady sitting in front of them.
“I’m sure you’re used to these by now,” the lady said, battling against long, fake nails to start a tape recorder. Finally she succeeded and straightened up, throwing them a smile.
“Now, you girls have become quite a hit over the past five months. Your first single went straight to number one and your debut album was released last month. That’s right isn’t it?” She looked at the group for reassurance and the three girls nodded before she ploughed on. “So how did you girls start off?”
Kate and Sarah immediately turned to Rochelle who let out a light laugh before answering.
“Well I knew Kate and Sem back when I still lived in New Zealand. They convinced me to work on my voice and then when I moved to Australia we formed Superbad, got ourselves some gigs and it was at one of those that our manager Michael Blaene discovered us.”
The questions continued and the girls took turns to answer, most of them being familiar. Sarah had taken over temporarily and Kate took the chance to glance around the tent, noticing that Joe Jonas was fast approaching the area they were seated, a plate of food in his hand. He looked on curiously as he walked by, nodding slightly to Kate as she watched him pass, when suddenly her eyes grew wide and her mouth dropped open. Joe turned back around just in time to collide with a figure, his food flying out of his hand as he let out a squeak.
“You hopeless boy, can’t you watch where you’re going?” the woman he had bumped into scowled and he muttered an apology, pulling a tissue from his pocket and reaching towards her.
“Don’t touch me! Just... eurgh,” she screeched, snatching the tissue from him and storming off. A chorus of laughter met his ears and he glanced over to find the girls of Superbad doubled over.
“Smooth one dude, that was priceless,” Kate called out and he threw an unsure smile back. He stood there for several awkward seconds, before letting out a breath and bending down to collect the spilt food. Piling it together on the paper plate he gazed at the grass clippings clinging to the different items and sighed, walking over to a nearby bin and dumping everything in it. Deciding he couldn’t face walking by Superbad again he continued on, heading back to his brothers.
He found them in their designated area, Nick bent over his guitar as Kevin fiddled with his phone.
“I thought you were going to get food,” the older boy puzzled and Joe bit down on his lip, tucking a strand of his chocolate locks behind his ear.
“I was. Then I ran into some chick and dropped it all... right in front of Superbad,” he admitted and there was a moment of silence before the two other brothers began to laugh.
“Dude, that’s brilliant. Nick let’s go find them!” Kevin suggested and Nick gave an impish grin, before placing his guitar to the side and jumping up.
“You really don’t have to,” Joe said, with a desperate edge but the boys were gone before he could blink.

After having shaken the interviewers hand and watched her waddle towards the bathroom the three girls stretched themselves, yawning widely.
“Well she was... interesting,” Kate mentioned testily, looking around herself to make sure the lady was no longer in hearing distance.
“She was nice enough though,” Sarah pointed out and the red head sighed, leaning her head on her best friend’s shoulder.
“I know, but still. Did you see her nails? They were insane man... and ouch Chelle!” She was distracted by the vice like grip of the blonde, turning to face her. “Is there a reason why you are rapidly cutting off the circulation to my hand?”
The girl failed to reply, staring straight ahead and Kate looked at her worriedly, looking back to Sarah.
“Is she ok?”
“Oh my god,” Sarah whispered and the red head’s eyes darted between her two friends before following their gaze and letting out a groan.
“You have got to be kidding me.”
“It’s... it’s... Jesse,” Rochelle managed to stammer as the pop idol made his way towards them, tossing an apple as he walked.
“Morning ladies, what’s up?” he greeted them as he took a seat next to Rochelle and she had to fight to get her voice out.
“Nothing much, you?”
“About the same, you’re that band Superbad right?” he asked and she nodded, turning in to face him properly. “I’ve only heard a couple of your songs, but you’re really good. I like what I’ve heard.”
“Honestly?”
“Yeah honestly, why wouldn’t I?” he furrowed his brow and Rochelle kicked herself inside, taking a moment to compose herself.
“It means a lot. I’m Rochelle and this is Kate and Semmy,” she took the chance to introduce them and the two girls nodded in greeting, before Kate glanced at her watch, slapping her hands together.
“Two hours to the gig, sounds about the right time to make myself a honey and lemon drink. Let’s go Sem,” she mentioned casually, giving Rochelle a look as she reached for her bag and pulled several items out of it.
“But-” Sarah began; quickly snapping her mouth shut as she received a kick to the shins and grudgingly hopped up to follow Kate. “Why are you taking me? It’s Jesse McCartney.”
“Cos Sem, if you didn’t notice he was aiming all his questions at Chelle. Beside’s you’re only seventeen, and just.”
“So? You’re only eighteen,” she pouted, taking glances back to where their best friend sat as they slowly made their way closer to the food table.
“Yeah, but I don’t fancy him,” she rolled her eyes as they reached it and she grabbed a cup, holding it under the tap of the hot water dispenser and lifting the lever. Filling it up she proceeded to open the tub of honey she had brought with her and began to pour it into the boiling water as Sarah looked over the food.
“Kate and Semmy right?” A voice appeared behind them and Kate spun around, nearly dropping her cup as she found Kevin and Nick in front of her.
“Yeah that’s us,” Sarah replied and they shook her hand in turn, moving to Kate.
“I think that’s enough honey,” Nick chuckled and she suddenly realised that the golden liquid was still pouring into the cup.
“Oh shoot,” she cursed, pulling the tub away and closing the lid. “Thanks for that. Guess I’ll be using the whole lemon.”
Freeing her hand she took her chance to shake their hands as well, reaching for the pre packed lemon afterwards.
“You like honey and lemon?” Nick asked as they watched her squeeze the fruit.
“Not really, but it helps my throat,” she answered with a shrug, taking a sip to test it and scrunching up her face. “It’s great.”
Kevin, Nick and Sarah burst into laughter at her reaction, the dark haired girl reaching out to lean on Kate for support as she grabbed at her stomach.
“We heard our brother made a fool of himself in front of you,” Kevin said after they had pulled themselves together and the girls nodded, smirking at the memory.
“It was so good, I saw the whole thing coming,” Kate told them, visualising the moment he had collided with the other girl. “Did he end up getting anything to eat?”
The boys shook their heads at her question and she frowned, glancing at the table next to them.
“I didn’t think he had. You guys should take him some now,” she suggested and the two boys exchanged glances, nodding.
“Why don’t you guys get him some food and come join us,” Kevin suggested and the two girls broke into grins, grabbing several plates.

3.
Joe was glad when he heard his brothers approaching, not enjoying the time he spent alone with only Nick’s guitar to save him from replaying the incident before over in his mind. His joy was short lived however as the two boys walked in, followed by none other than two members of Superbad.
“Hey little bro, guess who we found?” Kevin greeted, smiling knowingly at the boy, who shot him a look.
“We heard you never got your food. So we took the liberty of getting some for you,” Kate told the middle Jonas, stepping forward and offering him a plate.
“Oh wow, thanks,” he grinned, licking his lips as he took it from her and they all sat down, spreading themselves around the area.
“So we heard all about your adventure,” the eldest boy continued as Joe bit into a doughnut and he grinned nervously, looking between Sarah and Kate as he waited for them to say something.
“It was great. By the way, what time are you guys playing?” Kate asked and he swallowed his mouthful, making to speak.
“In about an hour,” Nick interrupted, answering for him and he nodded in agreement.
“We’ll come out and cheer you on,” Sarah decided and Nick smiled at her in thanks, the brunette returning it shyly.
“I’m pretty sure we play straight after you though,” Kate reminded her friend, whose face fell at the prospect.
“But you’ll come out for a bit right?” Nick double checked, leaning forward slightly in his seat.
“I dunno, I mean it is you guys,” the red head joked, scrunching up her face and taking a sip of her drink. The boy’s turned to her, Joe raising his eyebrows and she shrugged, letting out a giggle.
“Course we’ll come out, for as long as we can. That is of course if you do the same for us.”
“She’s got cheek guys,” Kevin chuckled and she smirked, bowing as best she could in her seat. Sarah shook her head at her best friend, even after all the years she had known Kate she still couldn’t help but be embarrassed by some of the girl’s antics.
“Anyone want some of this?’ Joe offered, holding out the still half full plate and Kate, Kevin and Sarah reached forward, thanking him as they took their fill.

“Wow that’s unbelievable, I was exactly the same,” Jesse smiled as he fiddled with the apple core in his hand and Rochelle brushed a strand of hair away from her face, looking at him.
“I never would have thought so though.”
“Really? Well now you know,” he said and she nodded, glancing up as a familiar figure approached them. “Looks like your interview’s up.”
Jesse followed her gaze to see the journalist returning and he frowned, not wanting the talk he was having with Rochelle to end.
“Just when we were getting to the good part. I wouldn’t be able to say, have your number would I? Perhaps we could continue this another time,” he asked and Rochelle’s jaw dropped open in shock. is he asking me for my number?
“Y... yeah sure,” she stumbled over her words, pulling out her phone sheepishly as she suffered a sudden memory lapse. Reading it out to him he smiled at her again as he hit save and she pulled herself to her feet just as the journalist took her own seat.
“I’ll give you a call soon,” Jesse told her and she nodded, before she farewelled him and swung around, beginning to walk blindly through the tent. Coming to her senses enough to realise that she didn’t know where her friends were she pulled out her phone and scrolled through the contacts. Kate answered on the fourth ring and she could barely keep her voice level as she asked their location.
“Why do you sound like you’re about to cry?” the girl asked with concern and she let out a laugh.
“Try cry, scream and die all at the same time. Guess who just asked for my number?”
“Who?”
“Jesse freaking McCartney.”
“Oh my god! You have to get your butt out here pronto! We’re out in the audience, JB are about to perform,” Kate ordered and she promised she’d be there as fast as she could, before hanging up. It took her several minutes to reach where her friends were stage front and before she had even spotted them she was almost toppled to the ground by her two friends.
“Oh my god Chelle I can’t believe it! You are so lucky!” Sarah squealed, as she constricted the eldest girl’s air flow.
“I know! I’m having a dream aren’t I? I’m going to wake up and it won’t even be sound check,” the blonde mused as they released her and they let out a laugh.
“I’m telling you now, it wasn’t a dream,” Kate assured her as guitars started up and Rochelle spun around, having forgotten that they were out in the view of the public. Sarah and Kate looked up as Joe opened his mouth, though they still clung to her tightly and she looked around herself as she heard several close screams. She expected them to be aimed at the boys in front of them, but instead several girls were waving fanatically at her and she returned it earnestly, causing them to squeal louder. She noticed the grip on her slacken and looked back to find her two friends dancing to the upbeat song, laughing at them slightly.
“’Cause an empty room can be so loud, it's too many tears to drown them out,” they sung along as they moved and she rolled her eyes at them as they encouraged her to join in.
“Come on Chelle, it’ll get you in the mood to perform,” Sarah said and she giggled, allowing her body to start moving.
“Go Joe!” Kate screamed as the boy slid across the stage and his attention turned towards them, giving them the thumbs up. They returned it and he spun around, catching the attention of his brothers and indicating in the girl’s direction. The two brothers grinned along in recognition, seeming to burst into a new wave of energy and the girls of Superbad began to laugh.
